the international children's day (icd) is celebrated in numerous countries, usually (but not always) on june 1 each year.
the icd had its origin in the world conference for the wellbeing of children in geneva, switzerland in 1925. it is not clear as to why june 1 was chosen as the icd: one theory has it that the chinese consul-general in san francisco (usa) gathered a number of chinese orphans to celebrate the dragon boat festival in 1925, which happened to be on june 1 that year, and also coincided with the conference in geneva.
june 1 has since been observed as the icd by numerous countries, especially by communist countries; in the western world the icd is usually celebrated on other days of the year (if at all), and there is often little public awareness about these celebrations. (see the section on germany below for further discussions.) consequently there is sometimes a misperception that june 1 as the icd was a communist invention. nonetheless, in recent years even some groups within the united states started observing the icd on june 1.

Thanks for your coming, I fell so happy , I have this chance to stand there to share my ideas about my hometown with you all.
A culture creats a city, the water and soil bring up the people. At the foot of Erlang mountain, in the middle of Sichuan province, lies a small town named Tian Quan. I am proud to say: it is my hometown.
Wherever I go, Tian Quan stays in my deep memory forever. I can not forget the place where I was born and grow up, I can not forget the place where surrounded by green mountains and water, I can not forget the good and honest people who working hard in there, I can not forget every river, every street there.
Standing at the top of the WenBi mountain, you will catch a bird’s eye view of the whole Tian Quan. You will find it is a beautiful picture including the mordern colour and old smell.
Looking at the lovly provious animals , such as panda, Takin, Golden monkey. You will thinks the nature has special power to make life so wonderful.
My hometown has a long history of culture. There is the tea-horse-accient-way, which attracts Chinese and foreign tourists to visit . Walking on the tea-horse-accient-way, you can’t help sign in regret how long our culture is!
Tian Quan is also famous for it’s culture of tea. In summer , the farmers work on the tea plantations, you will regard it as a lively picture. If you have a chance to work on the tea plantations, you can’t miss it! You can enjoy the tea and learn more about tea at the same time .How wonderful it is!
I want to say a song for my hometown, but I don’t know what kinds of music is fit for her, I want to write a poem for her, but I don’t know what words can describe her.

Quite frankly, military training is tiring. I’ve been told a million times about how exhausted I would be as soon as I finished this grueling training, and I don’t have any objection about that. However, now, I’ve got an Yes and No! I mean, physically,Yes, I have sun-tanned skin right now and for the first time I loathe being under the sun. Not to mention my sore legs and back. But this is just the heads of the coin. Tails, which means mentally, No! My inability to find proper words to express my feelings seems more and more overwhelming. Incredible Unbelievable Marvellous Extremely impeccable maybe These words are pale in comparison to the big picture of my future life. It’s like unwittingly, you fall in love with a new group of people, you feel for everything, you fall for everything.
I don’t know if I am being sensitive here. I remember us sprint out the door to assemble because we are running late. I remember us complaining about the miserable food when it’s time for lunch. I remember us sitting weirdly comfortable in a cool dark place when other classes were sweating. I remember us sharing jaw-dropping details about our lives and feel connected to others. I remember all those moments of rapture and ecstasy, all those senses of déjà vu, all those smiles of genuine happiness.
It’s like suddenly, I am no longer a prosaic girl living a plain life. It’s been a long time since the last time I didn’t regard myself as a catastrophe. As a lonely highway.The strong hope for the future made me the girl on fire. As I spoke with some friends of my pastimes and passions, words of such silky texture poured out from my soul with unparalleled candor and cadence. The voice that issued from my lips was at once richer, deeper, stronger than I had ever produced. It was as though an inner self, a core essence, had broken free and taken control. I broke out of my niche!
Anyway, I shouldn’t be too excited because it’s just five days. Even though I have already found some friends with extraordinarily similar interests as I do. Even though this is breaking news for me because I enjoyed be in this together finally. Even though the words of encouragements faded, I still recall them from time to time to taste it all over again. I swear I’m not severed from reality. Momentarily, it’s just impossible to describe all the details that happened during 5 days. I just need to speak all these things about how delighted I am to be in this class and try to be in tranquility…
I am a relatively total stranger to my new school. But it’s such a sensory bombardment for me even to think about it. I wanna be a part of something I don’t know. A fledging dragonfly is ready. I believe that the monarch will be crowned. May the best man win! You are gonna hear Class 7 ROAR!

Today I would like to talk about current environment situations which you can see all over the world. While we are pursuing better ways of lives, more problems we are also making. Sometimes we only notice a unilateral aspect of the matter while ignoring its various functions. This kind of negligence, however, may cause serious problems that could be devastating.
It is said that one false move may lose the game. This is proved in our daily life obviously. As the economy is growing rapidly day after day, manufacturers are looking for more opportunities to gain numerous profit. To earn more money, one way is to decrease the cost of the products. They move their factories to developing countries which can not only benefit them much more profit than before, but also those countries welcome them since they can help increase the countries’ GDP.
While it seems we can gain a lot from building factories to produce products, the shortcomings of these buildings are becoming obvious. Though at the beginning, those developing countries did gain a lot of profit. As time passes, people living surround the factories deposit industrial waste into the river which directly leads to the influence of human’s lives. Fish died, birds disappeared, people moved, and we couldn’t imagine what would come next. These industries also use lots of resources to carry on their production. Large amounts of carbon dioxide are discharged, we all know the consequence of that, global warming—as one of the most essential environmental problems in the world, is becoming more and more serious currently. That the local government ignored was that these factories damaged their environment without any punishment but reception! They didn’t notice the negative aspect on this investment. What a pity!
