一、合作学习研究的意义
首先在小学开展合作学习是为了满足社会的需求。如果一个人渴望在21世纪获得成功，他就应该学会如何与别人有效合作。新英语课程标准强调老师要给学生足够的实践和合作，让他们为未来做好准备。其次是为了迎合教师的需求。老师经常抱怨学生作文中有太多的错误，而很少给学生机会去写作文。一个班有50多名学生，老师没有足够的时间和精力关注每个学生，因此学生写作的距离越来越大。在传统的以教师为中心的课堂上，教师花大量的时间解释写作，学生在写作方面兴趣不高，效率低。因此调动学生的积极性，使每一个学生都参与课堂活动，主动获取知识是重要的。再次是为了满足学生的需求。问卷表明，教师教给学生的知识较多，然而学生只能接受一些知识。学生往往能感到他们的写作压力和焦虑，希望教师告诉他们写什么和如何写每一个句子。事实上，学生希望互相讨论，渴望得到温暖和友好的同伴的帮助，因此，给学生足够的机会互相辩论，激发他们的写作动机，对于提高他们的写作成绩是十分必要的。
二、研究的实施
这项研究在两个平行班进行，由笔者任教。受试者是抚宁湾子小学五年级的学生，实验组是五（1）班的学生，对照组是五（2）班的学生。为了了解写作中学生成绩的变化，笔者采用了前测和后测。为了确保有效性，笔者将2013-2014第二学期的作文考试作为前测，2014-2015第一学期市统考的作文考试作为后测，并对相关数据折合百分比进行统计分析。实验前，1班和2班分别有65%和64%的学生避免语法错误；67%和69%的学生能正确拼写单词；65%和64%的学生能涵盖所有作文要点；65%和64%的学生能完成字数要求。实验后，1班和2班分别有85%和66%的学生能避免语法错误；89%和69%的学生能正确拼写单词；91%和55%的学生正确使用时态；89%和64%的学生能涵盖所有作文要点；92%和66%的学生能完成字数要求。
通过实验数据表明，对照班实验前后的数据基本没有什么差异，但实验班出现很大的差异。实验前，65%的学生能避免语法的错误；实验后，85%的学生没有语法的错误。在单词拼写方面，22%的学生通过小组学习得到明显的提升。实验后的数据表明几乎所有的学生都能正确地使用时态，89%的学生写作时能涵盖所有的作文要点，92%的学生都能完成字数的要求。总之，所有以上数据显示通过小组合作的学习的方式，大部分学生在英语写作课堂上都得到明显的提高。
三、实验讨论和结论
根据研究数据分析，将小组合作学习运用到写作教学中，提高写作成效。通过形式多样的小组活动，学生情趣高昂，兴趣盎然，有强烈的求知欲望和参与意识，学习成绩显著提高。
首先，小组合作学习引导学生在课堂中积极探究，避免语法和时态的错误。小组合作学习避免集体教学中相当一部分学生因不能参与学习活动而不得不处于旁听的被动状况，为各层次学生的普遍参与提供机会、创造条件。合作小组中，包括学困生在内的每一个成员都能自由表述自己的意见，小组共同探索和创造，有利于集思广益和发展求异思维，同时培养相互协调合作的创造性言语活动能力与合作竞争精神。在这种宽松自由的氛围中，学生理解新知、解决问题的能力得到增强，教学质量得到大面积提高。在小组活动中，通过提问、对话、讨论等，为每个学生增加更多接触目的语的机会。例如：教师与学生协商后确定几个英语话题，如：（1）Friends，（2）Animals and Vegetables。学生根据所选话题收集语句并整理材料，准备在展示课中发言、交流，然后成果展示。通过学生认真分析后的句子，语法错误的可能性极大地降低了，激发了学生主动参与成为学习的主人的动机。总之，小组合作学习有利于引导学生在写作中避免语法和时态的错误，提高学生的写作成绩。
其次，小组合作学习引导学生正确拼写和使用单词，提高学生的单词使用能力。在学生的写作中，大纲规定掌握300个单词和一定数量的习惯用语及固定搭配，做到能听、说、读、写，并在口语中熟练应用。在小组合作学习中，学生想用英语单词dislike时就联想到like，进而联想到其他表示喜欢的单词有love，enjoy，prefer等，同时想到它的反义词是hate。通过一个单词联系一大片单词，可以使学生把握这些单词的区别和联系，加深对其所表达的内容的理解，从而扩大词汇量。通过对英语单词的分析和对比归类，学生就会把记忆单词当做一件轻松愉快的事情，通过同学之间的讨论，准确地把高级单词运用到作文当中，学生的写作成绩自然得到提高。
